Graphic Leadership: Obscurity vs. Significance

Obscure.jpg

When the word “leader” is spoken, there are certain names that immediately come to mind including Bill Gates and Steve Jobs.  Or from the past there are the leaders of Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, Winston Churchill and others.

Nevertheless during that same period of time in contrast to those handful of people mentioned above, there are with no exaggeration, literally billions of people who quietly led families, classrooms, and smaller organizations – contributing significantly to their world and even to your world.  If they had not led, the difference would have been noticed.

Just as notoriety is not synonymous with significance, this poster reminds us that obscurity is not synonymous with insignificance.  An effectively consistent leader learns to daily draw on the satisfaction of his/her significant contributions whether or not anyone else notices.
