Graphic Leadership: Curing The Victim

IMG_3143

A psychologist who mentored me oftentimes would listen to the whine of a victim complaining about this or that for costly minute after costly minute in the therapy session.

At the conclusion of the venting, my mentor took a deep breath and predictably asked the same question What are you going to do about it?

Most times he would get a surprised look from the client – changing to a look of empowerment as s/he realized s/he did have options and wasn’t a victim after all.

With some followers it just might be the most powerful question a leader could ask them.
