In the spirit of full disclosure, our club has not tried this. When the planets align, I believe it could be an effective fund raising idea for both a local school band and a local magic club.
The son of Stan Kramien published the idea, and I did not want the idea to be lost.
A local magic club partners with a local school band to produce a magic show with the band providing the music, and the club providing the show.
The band would play songs on which they were already working. The show would be built around those songs as an opening pre-show overture while audience members were entering the theater; short segments playing volunteers on and off the stage; as a special break in the show for the band to exhibit its talents; and/or playing at the close of the show while audience members are leaving the auditorium.
The club would provide the tickets, posters, and take home fliers. The school would provide the venue and sell the tickets. I’ll leave it up to you to negotiate the percentage split of the revenues.
Most audience members would no doubt be band members’ family and friends.
I know I have this idea filed in my brain for when the right opportunity presents itself. Your club might already have those opportunities in place to where you could take advantage of this.
If your club should ever make this happen, please let me know your experience at: magicclubleaders@gmail.com.
