Marketing: Sponsorships

After a short period of time, a club leader has a sense for those members who have disposable income and those who don’t.

Once that determination is made understanding the magic passions of the person(s) with disposable income, prepares you to approach them* with projects that might appeal to those passions.

These are those opportunities that go beyond the monthly on-going operating expenses.

Possibly it’s paying for a child’s summer camp tuition or junior magician’s class supplies or sponsoring a particular lecturer in keeping with the sponsor’s area(s) of interest.

Stay in tune with your potential donors’ areas of interest and your eyes looking for initiatives that might coincide with those interests.

Particularly as we age, many of us are looking for ways to give back to an art that has done much for us.

This blog is only one proof of that truth for myself.

*I find the words “I don’t suppose” to be words that soften my approach and minimize any awkwardness that might arise in the request. “I don’t suppose you’d have any interest in helping to financially support …”

Those three words have served and continue to serve me well in the area of seeking sponsorships.
