How many total years of magic experience does your club membership possess?
At some point, it might be beneficial to figure that out – announcing your total to the group. We found that sharing the total helped empower our club members to share their knowledge as well as more quickly asking advice from other members in the group.
Here’s an involving way to tap into your club’s knowledge base.
Greeting the people as they enter the meeting room are open envelopes hung by the flap as you see in the picture – using blue painter’s tape.
On each envelope is hand printed the name of a classic magic trick (i.e. Cut and Restored Rope, Miser’s Dream, Egg Bag, etc.).
On each table is a stack of blank index cards and some additional envelopes and a strip of painter’s tape hanging down from the front edge of the table.
The table begins by discussing as to whether or not they’d like to add any other envelopes to the wall. At various times throughout the meeting, members go to the wall with index cards on which they print their name and a legibly printed tip they would have for anyone wishing to effectively routine the magic trick printed on the envelope.
As the MC, you can also add ideas (particularly to the ones that are not getting any ideas inserted into them).
Towards the end of the meeting tables go up and retrieve envelopes that interest them so each table gets a relatively equal number of envelopes.
Then each table picks the best two or three ideas to share with the whole group.
