As a leadership team, we were amazed at the enthusiastic response to this initiative. We had nearly 15% of our membership volunteer to participate.
Why was that (besides the desire to give back with their love of magic)?
Our theories ran in two directions. Our members wanted more opportunities to perform their magic for lay people. And some of our members knew they needed a safe place to be bad before they would ever be good.
If you look on our website, you’ll see that we fortunately have a geriatric psychiatrist as a member who helped us select not only a collection of simple tricks from our online video library for even our newest members to perform but also some magic tricks we could teach the residents and even leave the props with them to perform for family and friends.

PLEASE NOTE
Because some of our members work long-term care facilities for pay, we were careful to let our performers and facility partners know that we as a club would never compete with our own members. Consequently the facility understood that we would only be performing close-up magic with no platform or stage work.
We are also very clear that to be one of our partners the facility needs to be able to accommodate weekday early evening events and/or weekends as many of our members work during the weekday.
