Governance/Marketing: Your Club’s Brand

When I read you the names of the above brands, you get a feeling with each one. If it’s a positive feeling, that company has spent hundreds of millions of dollars to intentionally and purposefully produce that feeling and sustain that feeling in you.

In the context of a magic club, the discussion of brand can go in at least two directions:

Your brand as a leader. What words do you want people to use in describing you and your leadership style? Writing them down helps bring focus to your brand. Then of course the natural follow-up question is “Do people use your desired adjectives in describing you, or do you need to do a better job of managing your brand?”

Your club’s brand. What words do you want members to use in describing the club? Are they using those words?

Below is a list of adjectives that might help jumpstart your process.

The above process of defining your brand then works in tandem with your leadership team creating the club’s Mission Statement and Mission Slogan addressed in the next post.

Whether or not you take the time to complete the above process will not change the fact that your members will have feelings about you and your club’s brand. They just might not use the adjectives you want.
