Meeting Activity: Facebook Polling

In one of our recent Monday Night Magic monthly events, we had a little friendly team competition between four table teams – each presenting a short magic routine with items found in a common restaurant place setting.

The winner would be determined by popular vote of both our on-site members as well as those participating via Zoom.

Just prior to the voting I posted a poll to our club’s Facebook page where all could go to our page and cast their vote for Table 1, Table 2, Table 3, or Table 4.

I had created the settings on Facebook so a person could vote more than once as I thought some would be sharing phones with another who might not have brought their phone with them.

In real time those in attendance could then watch the votes come in on our Facebook page bar graph until one table clearly won. It was actually quite exciting.

After the event, I just deleted the poll from our Facebook page but not before approving the three new members who applied to join our Facebook page after discovering it that night.

Maybe at some future meeting, your club might have a use for this idea?

No doubt we’ll be using it again.
