Our board struggled when we considered the term limits as mandated in our club’s constitution for board members. Continuity in which we could build one year on top of the previous year’s progress became increasingly difficult. Many years we felt like we were starting over each year (which became quite discouraging).
On the other hand, we also knew fresh leadership in board positions was essential to remaining relevant to all the generations we wished to gain and maintain as members.
Our solution was to have the board establish an Executive Director position where the person in that position operates at the pleasure of the board – working primarily with and through the President of the club to maintain a strategic focus on the club’s growth.
Our club’s job description for that position can be found by clicking HERE.
