Any ballplayer will tell you that the fear of striking out is worse than the experience of striking out.  They will also tell you that the more you strike out the less dramatic it is, and that the first time you strike out is the most traumatic.

Consequently, the truth of the poster bears evidence in life.

I was on the planning committee for an event and at that time of my life I was oftentimes paralyzed by the fear of failure.  “What if no one comes to our event?”  I asked the others.  “After all, we’re publicizing it in so many places!”

One person who was further down the road than myself simply said, “The only people who will know no one showed up are the people who show up.”  I’ve never looked at failure the same way again.  Of course I’ve struck out a lot more since then too.
