Graphic Leadership:  Mind Your Own Business

Mine

Remember the phrase “Mind your own business?”  In my childhood it was a reminder to not try and eavesdrop on adult conversations.

With this poster, we’d use it to literally remind ourselves as leaders to focus on the things that belong to us.

The list leaves little to interpretation.

We own our words, actions, mistakes, behaviour, and attitudes.  We don’t own that same list belonging to others.

How do you treat those things belonging to you differently from those things not under your ownership?

The mature leader has analyzed and answered that important question and seeks to act appropriately. Any other response oftentimes turns manipulative and is an inordinate waste of a leader’s energy.
