I’m consistently amazed at how much someone will pay for something that I wouldn’t spend a penny on.
Just because I can’t see it’s worth doesn’t mean it isn’t worth to the other person what they paid for it. We see this with employers too. What one employer is willing to pay for one skill another employer finds valueless.
With assessment of value being that situational we as leaders need to be sure that we don’t let others determine our value. And just because one person or one group of people don’t value what we bring to the party doesn’t mean we shouldn’t keep looking for that group or person who does value what we bring. In the final analysis, it’s that persistence that separates the true leaders from the leader wanta be’s.
