Graphic Leadership: Ten Lies I Tell Myself

tenlies

In his excellent book Taking Responsibility by Dr. Nathaniel Brandon, he  addresses the ten most common beliefs that people use to excuse themselves from taking personal responsibility for where they find themselves in life.  They’re listed on this poster.

As you read through the list, make note of any on the list where you internally respond, “What?  That’s a lie?”

That’s the one(s) on which you probably want to stop and do more thinking about what makes that particular statement a lie, and how holding onto that false belief might be robbing you of the empowerment found in taking responsibility for the choices you have made and will make going forward.

A leader replaces these false beliefs as soon as s/he identifies them and encourages their followers to do the same.
