Graphic Leadership: Managing A Conflict Pocket Guide

This poster has been designed to be a laminated pocket card to carry in your wallet or purse for easy reference.

Conflict is uncomfortable for most people.  Nevertheless, differing opinions are a basic fact of life.  Just take a moment to drive down any street and notice the differences in house colors to appreciate how differently people view even what is attractive.

Although there are other posters that deal with this subject in greater detail, here is a poster that can be reduced in size, printed and laminated to carry in a wallet or purse to help remember this very basic approach.

A leader appreciates the fact that above all else the other person needs to feel heard and understood even if ultimately their suggestion is not accepted.  Consequently, the leader seeks to determine what’s important to him/her (and why) while at the same time expressing those components that are important to the leader himself/herself.

Then there are those times when the leader and the follower cannot reach a win-win end to the discussion, and the leader must make a decision.  At that stage, the leader affirms the follower’s right to a differing opinion and states the decision s/he’s made on the matter and why.

Please look at the other posters in the category of Conflict Management for more information even typing in the word conflict into the search box on the site.
