In spite of the stereotypical view of a leader being that of a person standing on a mountain barking orders to his/her followers down at the bottom of the mountain, in truth a great leader is a great listener.

S/he know how to listen for understanding.  This poster shows the process in a simple graphic fashion.  After showing attention and respect particularly through the management of his/her non-verbal signals, the leader then summarizes or paraphrases back what s/he’s heard to prove their understanding and then builds their understanding through additional questions when required.
