Farmers know not to stare at the clouds trying to determine whether or not it’s going to rain before they plant their crop. To be successful they must plant seed regardless of the likelihood of rain coming or not. If they wait to find out if it’s going to rain, it’s too late.
From the ancient writings of the Bible in the book of Ecclesiastes the writer says it this way:
Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant.
If they watch every cloud, they never harvest. Ecclesiastes 11:4
So it is with a wise leader. Not knowing which projects are going to be successful and which ones won’t, the leader keeps his/her forward movement steady – quickly discarding that which isn’t working and continually developing those which do. I wish there was a 100% guarantee of success. A leader knows that there isn’t.
