Graphic Leadership: Be A Nesting Doll

nesting

You no doubt have seen a set of Russian nesting dolls before.  From this time forward I would like you to never look at them quite the same way again.  I would like them to remind you of a key component of being a leader.

Just as the dolls nest together so too a leader needs to be sure to groom someone else to take their position (the next smallest doll) with that person having someone ready to take their position (the second smallest doll) and so on down the line to the person with the smallest set of responsibilities in your organization (the smallest doll in the set).

Only by being secure enough to consistently replicate yourself in others does a leader expand his/her influence.  Only by encouraging followers to replicate themselves will the entire organization maintain the continuity necessary to keep it viable for decades to come.
