Graphic Leadership: Self Revelations

20131227-101250.jpg

In order to bond with another person, vulnerability must be present. The leader must be willing to share his/her thoughts and feelings with the follower if s/he expects the follower to do likewise.

This poster contains a collection of Self Revelation examples.

Notice all but two of the statements begin with the personal pronoun  “I “- indicating ownership of the thought or feeling about to be expressed.

The leader learns that after making the statement in a non-critical tone of voice (i.e. emotionless as though the leader is merely stating a fact), the best next step is to say nothing at all.  Give the listener a chance to respond (just like in a game of tennis).

Remember a game of tennis is always won when the ball is in the other person’s court.
