Earlier in this series of articles we explored the necessity of a leader being tuned into identifying “Wishy Washy Words.” These are words that sound substantive but in reality carry little or no meaning.
To help in the identifying of these words, here’s a poster with quite a collection.
When a leader catches his/her follower using one of these words, the leader need only ask, “When you used the word ____________, I wasn’t sure exactly what you meant. Would you please help me by clarifying?”
This leadership habit helps avoid many misunderstandings and resultant conflicts.
