Graphic Leadership: Balance

Our physical, emotional, and spiritual resources are finite (see the poster entitled Limited for more on this subject).

Consequently an effective leader knows how to consistently replenish all three internal sources of energy so as not to “run dry” in any of those areas.

Do you get energy by being alone or by connecting socially with people? Introverts and extroverts can vary substantially on how this occurs. A leader needs the self knowledge to act on – making sure his/ her emotional energy source is being replenished.

A leader knows how much sleep he/she needs every night to be at peak performance and which foods (and how much) give him/her energy and which ones only create sluggishness.

And a leader knows how to “feed his/her soul” whether it be through church, volunteer work, art, music, creativity, or some other activity.

If you have yet to identify those sources of replenishment, please determine to do so soon. However, even more important, begin to schedule on your calendar when you will avail yourself of those sources.
