Graphic Leadership: Delayed Gratification

poster-sacrifice

In this poster, you see a marathon runner passing restaurant after restaurant with the finish line clearly in her sights – delaying the instant gratification of stopping and walking into one of the restaurants for a delicious piece of apple pie with ice cream on top for what she wants most – finishing the race.

Of course this assumes that the leader knows what s/he wants most. For help on this please visit The Tombstone Test and Inner Drive posters. Then the leader must control his/her emotions enough to not give into the immediate. See the Emotional Composure poster for help in this arena. Finally the leader’s internal Parent and Adult must have been exercised enough to control the internal Child who will always want what s/he wants when s/he wants it. Here the Parent, Adult, Child  poster will prove helpful in understanding of this internal dynamic. The rewards of this are great as the Self Discipline poster illustrates.
