“You can’t get to second base with your foot on first” seems like an obvious truth until you start applying it to areas of your life in which you’d really like to grow. Then oftentimes we try to deny its reality.

Leaving something behind is nearly always a part of growing and moving on in life. Sometimes it’s our comfort zones (see the Comfort Zone poster). Sometimes it’s a job or an unhealthy relationship (see the Necessary Endings poster).

Does that mean growth involves grief over loss (see the Grief Cycle poster)? Mature leaders have accepted that fact – viewing sadness over loss the cost of continuing to grow in substance as a person. They encourage their followers to do the same.
