A tool for goal setting that I’ve tried and found to be quite successful is the hanging of an empty picture frame on a wall. The painting is entitled My Future. I then take a piece of paper and describe all that I see in the picture as I describe my- encapsulating what I want to see in the years to come.
I could see this being done with a married couple who would then compare their pictures as they sought to better coordinate their visions for the future together or even a larger group – seeking to gain a vision for the future of a project. You might give it a try – realizing that without then subsequently building a plan, the painting will only be wishful thinking. See the poster Effective Goal Setting for more on this subject.
