I love quotes where I can’t understand the meaning and its application without reading it more than once. Here is certainly one of those.
Statistics indicate that 10% of those in America have specific goals they wish to achieve. Even less have specific goals they’ve written down. Even less have specific goals they’ve linked to a plan. And even fewer than that will ever have the courage to execute on their plans.
According to the book Success – The Glenn Bland Method, the 3% of folks with goals and plans who write them down accomplish fifty to one hundred times more during their life than those 10% who have goals and plans and merely keep them in their head. Imagine what the huge production gap is between those who have goals and plans and write them down and those who never have goals . . . or worst yet those who never have plans?
When I first read those words nearly forty years ago, I knew that written goals and plans would be my choice. I’ve never regretted it. No leader ever has.
See the posers entitled Effective Goal Setting and Plan B for more on this process.
