When dealing with a situation where the outcome is ultimately in the hands of others, the wise leader knows to not allow himself/herself or his/her followers to get their ego invested in the outcome.
Instead the wise leader will encourage his/her followers to invest energy (ego) in the process – knowing that in the end they will have done all they could to impact the chances for success in the outcome.
Encouraging followers to invest in the outcome is to only create a potential roller-coaster of emotions over which neither the leader nor the followers have any control.
