Graphic Leadership: Tell Me More

Although the poster’s a little cheesy, I decided to keep it for the sake of memorability.

The words “Tell Me More” need to be the first words that come out of a leaders mouth when one of their followers brings an issue to them.  Oftentimes it is not.More often than not inexperienced leaders begin responding with advice before hearing the full story.  The simple phrase “Tell me more” let’s the direct report emphasize the points s/he believes are important (which gives the leader even more information) let alone expanding on the initial information communicated. An experienced leader knows that more often than not the issue the follower brings is usually only a symptom and seldom the real problem.
