Graphic Leadership: Know When To Stop

poster-handle

Most leaders are risk takers.  Consequently, most leaders are gamblers of sorts.  When channeled, this characteristic can be magnificent in its ability to move people to places they would be too afraid to go without the leader.  When not managed, this quality of leadership can cause the leader not to know when to stop and cut his/her losses.
Elsewhere in this book you’ll find the poster entitled Necessary Endings based on a book of the same name by Dr. Henry Cloud.   There Dr. Cloud speaks elegantly on the subject of knowing when to stop being just as important a sense as knowing when to start.  A wise leader considers how much s/he is willing to put at risk on any given project before starting that project.  Then s/he’ll know when to stop throwing good money after bad or even good energy after bad.Waiting to decide that in the heat of moment is a recipe for disaster.
