Treatment of others is more often than not a reflection of how a person treats himself/herself.Without the change of behavior in how a person treats himself/herself, changing the treatment of others has a slim chance of succeeding.  A leader understands not to focus on the system Ii.e. how a person treats others) but go to the source (i.e. how the person treats himself/herself).See the posters Parent-Adult-Child and Intimidation for more information on this subject.
