Graphic Leadership: Cup Of Tea

poster-cupoftea

I’m not everyone’s cup of tea. This one comes from my wife. I like how it sounds. Not everyone is going to like me. Oftentimes, when I encourage people to seek counseling, I say, “You need to visit several counselors because you may not fit with the first one you visit.” When people are wanting to find a church, I say, “You may need to visit many churches because you may not fit with the first church you visit.”

No one is everyone’s cup of tea. A leader understands that. Not everyone will follow any given leader because that leader may not be everyone’s cup of tea. And to accept that and to embrace that is to set yourself free from trying to meet everyone’s expectations.

A leader carries himself or herself with an understanding that they won’t please everyone with the decisions that they make, with the directions that they take, with the principles that they hold. But they’ve embraced this poster, “I’m not everyone’s cup of tea” and continue resolutely leading.
